The Falconeer Franchise Welcomes ShipShaper

We are stoked to reveal that creator of the Falconeer franchise, Tomas Sala has revealed his next maritime adventure with 'Ship Shaper', but let's let him tell you about it.

"Hey!

I’m Tomas Sala, an independent game artist and designer. Some players might know me from Moonpath to Elsweyr, an exotic Skyrim mod series that helped shape my visual style early on. Over the years I’ve carried that approach into projects like Rekt! on iOS and Switch, SXPD on iOS, and TrackLab on PSVR, each exploring distinctive visual and interactive ideas. Most recently, that journey led to The Falconeer and Bulwark, projects that brought those influences together and went on to receive critical acclaim, including a BAFTA nomination, which I still can't believe but hangs in my office next to my Dinosaur bone (yes really)​.

I’ve always loved ships and boats, and over time I knew they would sit at the heart of any Falconeer or Bulwark follow-up. What began as a small experiment made for Bulwark grew into its own thing.​

ShipShaper is a small, explorative ship-building tool focused on the simple joy of shaping boats. You pull, push, and drag forms into place to create everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships and early ironclads. There’s no grid, no meta, and no right answer. Just shapes, balance, and the quiet satisfaction of something coming together.​

There’s no combat, management, or objectives. It’s a boat designer built around experimental interfaces that remove the usual friction of 3D work. No 3D skills required, just organic shaping and attaching parts until it feels right.​

When you’re done, you can place your ships into a diorama, export them into Bulwark or future projects, or export full 3D models. Ships you create are yours to use freely, whether for modding, game development, or 3D printing.​

ShipShaper is both a creative playground and a foundation for my future games, and I’m excited to share it early and hear what you think.

KARMA: The Dark World[wiredproductions.com] is turning the volume up on its twisted psyche again, this time by putting its score and sound design firmly in the spotlight. The newly released Behind the Scenes mini‑doc peels back the curtain on how composer and audio director Geng Li built a soundscape that crawls under your skin, then quietly refuses to leave.

This isn’t just “background music”. Across nearly four hours of original compositions, Li’s work swings from fragile, character‑focused motifs to full‑blown orchestral hits that crash in at the worst (best) possible moments. Silence does as much heavy lifting as strings or drums, with long, tense gaps that make every distant footstep, radio hiss, or whispered breath feel like a threat.

The journey behind the score is just as ambitious as the game itself. Orchestral sessions were recorded in Hungary, while drums and select instruments were tracked in Japan, before everything was pulled together and finished in the United States. That global process mirrors KARMA’s scale and helped the team lean hard into the game’s psychological horror roots and surreal, Lynchian edge.
