Hey guys. It's been a long time since I have made myself known around here, and for that I apologize. It is true that as a server owner I should take on more responsibility with running this server, and I regret that it has regressed like it has since I have been away. A lot of this is my fault since I have not been keeping up with it. Now, however, I feel that the day of reckoning has come for me.

I am no longer interested in running the server. I am just weary of the whole thing and want to move on to something new. I have been administrating and micromanaging these servers since 2004, and the will is gone. I would like to think that I have it, but it is clear that I don't. However, despite my being away, there is clearly still popular interest in the server. People keep coming on and playing. Thus, at this time I feel it is appopriate to hand over control of the server to someone equally as capable as myself, Princess Voodoo Scratch. Voodoo has some programming skills and server experience, and I know he will do a good job running the server. However, he is going to need some help.

First, all these new STEAM updates have reached the point where my knowledge of them has been surpassed. This is due to my being away from the community for so long. I have not kept up with updates and therefore feel that I can't be of much service to anyone who has questions or requests with regards to these new updates. Heck, I don't even know what plugins are working and which are broken on the server, or which ones will never work again due to these updates. That's why I have entrusted Voodoo with this control, because he has been keeping abreast of such changes.

Second, he needs your help monetarily if this server is to stay online. My position ever since I started in 2004 was that this was done for you, the player. It's not my server, it's yours. Thus, ever since 2004 my servers have been sustained entirely by player donations, and it will remain this way. As long as you donate, the server will stay online. When the donations stop, the server will shut down. It's as simple as that. The problem we are facing here is lack of donation support. UNF TF2 has not received a donation in months despite the player interest, and it is showing in the Treasury. Even after I downscaled the server to 24 slots from 32, the server STILL now only has enough money for ONE MORE MONTH beginning October 23rd. Thus, if no more donations are received, the server will shut down November 23rd. I don't want this to happen, and I KNOW you don't. The good news is server prices have dropped significantly over the years, for whatever reason (presumably economic). Back in 2004-2007 server prices would run $170 a MONTH for a 32 player server and $78 a month for a 20 player server. Right now in 2012 I am paying $27 a month for 24 players, with the same company (NFO) I have been with since 2005-2006. This is a good thing because it democratizes the donation process, allows more players to get server benefits, and allows servers to be sustained longer because more players can afford to reasonably donate. Thus, the donation goals are REASONABLE. If two people donate $30 each, you've already got two months of UNF TF2 right there. If a lot of you pool together $5 (which has never worked), the same goal can be accomplished. I just don't have the will for it any more, but I know some of you do. If you want to keep this server up, you can. Voodoo is going to make this server a better place. He is committed. He will do a rock-solid job. He wants UNF to prosper. He keeps telling me he gets annoyed when he sees his favorite servers go down. But he needs your help. He needs you to tell him what new plugins and mods you want to see on the server, and he needs your donations. If you help him, he will help you. Together, you guys can keep the server going. I am allowing this process to happen. Given my lack of committment at this point, It is now my responsibility to cede my responsibility, and that is what I have done. Have fun.
