...because Valve isn't perfect

Whenever players get an unjust Global Ban in CS:GO and try to raise attention in the forums, the majority doesn't believe them.

This group collects examples of wrongful bans of the past.




Untrusted account

st470#: In November 2013, he and others were banned after playing on a hijacked server. Support replied with generic copy-paste messages. Three days after contacting known CS:GO developers directly, they were unbanned. According to Valve, banning everyone who played on the hijacked servers was a safety measure to avoid further exploitation while they were fixing the exploit.

My own case: In November 2013, me and at least four other people received bans of around 360 days. Steam Support was no help. The bans were lifted only after a Valve employee noticed our complaints on Reddit and investigated. According to them, the bans happened due to an issue that was fixed with the next update.

Ev8: In December 2012, he received a 180 Global Cooldown and got the same generic replies from Support. Eventually the ban was lifted.



Overwatch

Roca: In June 2013, ESEA invite player Roca received a more than 380 days Overwatch Ban. The uproar this caused obviously made Valve reinvestigate, a day later he was unbanned.



VAC

In February 2014, several CS:GO players were VAC banned wrongfully, according to Valve due to an error with their automatic system. The bans were lifted shortly after.

Redditor J30H30 claims to have had a VAC ban removed out of nowhere after not hearing anything from Support for a month.

Redditor NinjaSock claims to have had a VAC ban removed three weeks after contacting Steam Support and various CS:GO devs.

Other than that, I haven't seen successful CS:GO VAC ban appeals made public yet, but Wikipedia links to false positive bans[en.wikipedia.org] in the past. You never know, it might happen again.



7 day ban

xNikx: In March 2013, he vented about a 7 day ban, received for being kicked with an error message about his class tables differing from the server's. An hour later, a Valve employee announced that the ban was rolled back.
