14K (十四K)

14K was formed by Kuomintang Lieutenant General Cat Siu-Wong in Guangzhou, China in 1945 as an anti-communist action group. However, the group moved to Hong Kong in 1949 when the Kuomintang fled the Communists after the Chinese Civil War. Originally there were fourteen members who were part of the Kuomintang, hence the name 14K. However, other sources say that 14 stands for the road number of the former headquarters, and K stands for Kowloon.

Compared to other triad societies, 14K is one of the largest and most violent Hong Kong triad societies, and its members appear to be more loosely connected. The factional violence of 14K is out of control because no single dragon head can control all the 14K factions around the world.
