At about 9:30 CST on the 7th of August it was decided that a server wipe was the only option to repaid the issues with NPC traders on both the PVP and PVE DnL servers. With the wipe came a fe w changes to some settings as well.

The PVE server - Only a partial wipe was done. The world was nuked! But players retained their previous progression. "Houses" remained intact. But all structures and tames were lost. I also modified the per level player stats so tthat each of the 60 points gained for leveling your character give a stronger boost to the chosen stat. Water and food states increased by 4 times. The remaining stats increase 3 time.

The PVP server was completely wiped. All structures, players stats, animals, and "houses" were deleted. The play type was also change from strictly PVP to PVP/RP Lite. This will be further explained below. Player stats were modified in the same way as the PVE server, but not as strongly. Water and food are increased to 3x, and the remaining states to 2x.

An example of the player stat modifications would be... looking at wight, each point you apply to a totally vanilla player would give you 10 points of additional weight. The PVE server now get 30 points, the PVP/RP server get 20 points. this was done to make it more possible to play as a multi-role player, or be more powerful as a role specific player. With vanilla settings, players are, in general, beyond overpowered by higher level large animals. This change should bring a bit of balance!

And for a bit about the new RP Lite idea...

RP Light as been added to encourage FvFvF Pvp. The goal is to encourage both sides to fight and not to encourage griefing. Let intent be shown prior to attacks to allow people a chance to defend themselves. Factions are encouraged but not required to work together as a whole, expect a reaction from your faction as a whole if you target your own. Offline raiding and killing on site is likely to trigger a responce from the server as a whole.

These changes brought a LOT of increased stability to the servers. Harvesting seems to be MUCH more correct in feel. Damage is applied to animals and resources much more naturally now. And all of the NPC vendors and guards are working like they are supposed to be! There are obviously still issues! Many of which are far beyond my control. But this step was one HUGE step forward! And one that most people involved in the talks were in favor of.
