Pov-ray allows you to easily make your own raytraced wallpapers

it's pretty epic

uses a simplified ML-esque standard to define cameras, lights, 3d objects, textures... etc.

It is very powerful

SFM isnt the most reliable in terms of actually getting cool stuff working. It does however, act as a great study for getting to know how other engines handle certain issues with software. The theory is that all are the same and junky like SFM, but unlike SFM, the team has developed it a bit to hide these problems. For a topic, we can talk about the quality of The Last Guardian. :)
