There have been a lot of games inspired by Dark Souls that have come out recently, which I have dubbed "Souls-likes." Perhaps one of them can satisfy you while you wait for the next title from From Software.

I know it was over a month since I said I'd post new reviews, but I finally got around to doing it. Life got in the wa---it's ADHD. It's really bad ADHD. I'll just be honest there.

Anyway, I wiped the slate clean. I think my old definition of "soulslike" that basically boiled down to "hard medieval game" is too broad for the modern gaming landscape so I narrowed it down, as well as (for the most part) excluding Fromsoft's games since those would be redundant recommendations.

I'll keep the list updated with new Soulslikes I play. I'm undecided if I'm going to recommend titles I haven't played but that I want to bring attention to. Let me know if you'd rather I do one or the other, and let me know if any of the titles I have in the list right now are new ones you haven't heard of.

So, uhh, despite a community of several thousand strong, I haven't posted to this curator in years. Let's just say, around the end of 2017, life got in the way and I never got back on the wagon.

Nowadays the Soulslike genre is much more common than it was a decade ago when I started developing a passion for this subgenre. So the focus of the curator is going to change a bit. I'm still going to be recommending Soulslike games, but only the GOOD ones, and I'll be having a bit more detail to say about them too. I'll be wiping the current recommended list later today and starting from square one since it had quite a few stinkers as well as a handful of recommendations I wanted to go in deeper on.

I'm aware most people still a part of this group have probably forgotten about it, but if you're still here, I'm glad you stuck around and I'm excited to start this up again.

Hey, I am giving a tiny tip, but if Astra: Knights Of Veda is worthy of being in this curator. Put a warning if it comes out as a gacha game. Now my proofs are the company that is making this game has a bit of a history of making gacha games, Stix and the r/gachagaming subreddit mentioned it. The latter is excited about this game.
