Transparent SHINKANSEN Sprays in TF2 & L4D2!

You can use either the standard .bmp image with the background, or the .tga with a transparent background. You'll need one downloaded before you proceed, and both are found in the link below.

Next, follow the appropriate steps for the correct game. This apparently can be duplicated in to most any game that uses the Steam engine.

Team Fortress 2:
1) Go to...
Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > [Your Username] > team fortress 2 > tf > materials

2) If in the 'materials' folder there is no folder labeled 'vgui', create one. If there is a folder, simply open it and proceed to the next step.

3) If within your 'vgui' folder there is not already a 'logos' folder, make one. Otherwise, enter it.

4) Within 'logos' should be a 'UI' folder. If there is not, make one.

5) Within the 'UI' folder, paste the .BMP 256 x 256 Shinkansen image.

6) Open Team Fortress 2, go to Options > Multiplayer, and then click the 'Import Spray...' button. Again, you will navigate to the 'UI' folder you'd just made/found. Select the image, and all should be ready.

Left 4 Dead:
1) Go to...
Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > left 4 dead 2 > left4dead2 > materials

2) If in the 'materials' folder there is no folder labeled 'vgui', create one. If there is a folder, simply open it and proceed to the next step.

3) If within your 'vgui' folder there is not already a 'logos' folder, make one. Otherwise, enter it.

4) Within 'logos' should be a 'UI' folder. If there is not, make one.

5) Within the 'UI' folder, paste the .BMP 256 x 256 Shinkansen image.

6) Open Left 4 Dead 2, go to Options > Multiplayer, and then click the 'Import Spray...' button. Again, you will navigate to the 'UI' folder you'd just made/found. Select the image, and it should be set.

No matter what game you're playing, it goes without saying that you'll need to know which button controls your spray paint tag, and that can be found under the your key settings for any particular game. I believe the default is 't'. Also, of course this should work with any 256 x 256 .BMP image, but why would you want anything else?

Thanks to everyone who is joining the Shinkansen Station group. It will help to have it somewhat populated once the public starts finding it (just as soon as I am able to advertise it).

The original Shinkansen page is still our main page, and I still like the smaller, more tight-knit idea of gaming with our friends. This public portion is just an experiment to populate servers which aren't quite filled by our group alone.

PithyHomo, member of the week for being the most valuable asset in any left4dead2 campaign. Mostly because bait.

Also special infected and zombie hoardes find him the most attractive.
