Playtesting Group for Custom SoTM Characters.

Just a reminder if you have not taken a look at the upcoming events calendar, but there is a platytesting event scheduled for this Friday. Feel free to drop an RSVP in the comments and maybe a quick blurb if you are bringing something you hope to see tested. (This will help us get organized and underway quicker on playday)

(I totally ripped the following section from insomn14's post on BGG, it was excellent, props to him!)

- Playtest decks should always be ready to be handed off to someone else before added to the playtest queue (see below). If not, mark them as experimental (see below).

- If a deck is still in the ideation phase or highly experimental, it'll be added to the Experimental Decks list. This is to signal that it is more likely to cause issues during playtesting and should probably be playtested in isolation (using non-playtest decks otherwise) as a baseline.

- Always hand off your decks to be run by someone else (either playing a hero deck or read off the villain/environment effects). This will help identify issues with the card text or clarity of what is supposed to happen.

- Always call out when something doesn't seem right: either something is unclear, something doesn't seem right, or something is causing trouble with the game. Have a discussion with the rest of the group and try to identify where the issue is and what might help. If possible, use a notecard on TTS to write down some ad hoc changes to keep the game going. If not possible, wrap up the game and debrief.

- After a session, always debrief with your fellow playtesters. Let the deck creator know what worked, what didn't work, what what fun, and what wasn't. Also try to comment here on the boards on that deck's thread so that the comments don't get lost in the rush of playtesting.

- If anyone is being rude, disruptive, or causing other issues during playtesting, please contact me and we'll see if we can find the source of the issue and work out a solution. (If anyone else would like to be a point of contact for this, please let me know. God forbid I'm ever the issue, but I always try to prepare for me being an unintentional a-hole to someone.)
