关于 Point It Out

Life's not fair. We are.

"Point It Out" is a giveaway, social and gaming group, meant to be 100% fair to its members.

Main features:
- both non-bundle and bundle games, and also DLCs are allowed to be given away.
- if you don't want to create giveaways at the time, you're not required to make any, as long as you don't enter giveaways made by other members
- we let YOU decide how much you value your gifts (read below)
- events

Point system explained:
- Everytime you make a giveaway, you earn "Win points" and once you win a giveaway, you lose certain amount of Win Points.
- The amount of points required to enter a giveaway is stated by its creator (in GA description or group discussion page). Minimum is 0 (=free) and maximum is the Entry points value. Example here, =maximum would be 19 WP.[imgur.com]
- this way we want to ensure, that even games in low demand can possibly get entries.
Example: Let's say I'm giving away Bioshock: Infinite. Since it was on sale multiple times, nobody will want to spend 50 points to enter. So instead of 50 points, I may require 20 points and the chances of getting more entries are way higher then. So once someone wins, I'm getting 20 points and he loses the same amount.
- points are spread after the giveaway ends
- changing the desired amount of points after creating a giveaway (and thus abusing the system) is not allowed and will get you kicked

Refer to Google Spreadsheet[docs.google.com] to view your amount of points and other info.

- current member limit is 40 and 100 CV (contribution value - refer to your steamgifts.com profile) is required.

General rules:
1. We require an entry non-bundle giveaway to prevent leechers* (more info below)
2. Avoid having negative amount of Win Points.
2.1. For new members, -25 is the maximum amount of negative points. If you surpass -25, you'll be kicked without warning. After 1 month, the borderline increases to -50.
3. All giveaways have to be posted on group's "Discussions" page, otherwise they won't count towards your points ratio.
4. Giveaways need to have at least 1 entry by the time they end, otherwise they won't count towards your points ratio.
5. DLC and bundle GAs are allowed.
6. Multiple copies of the same game are OK, as long as number of entries equals number of copies

Entry giveaway:
- we require a single, non-bundle giveaway within 48 hours after entering the group
- the giveaway shall last at least 24 hours
- the entry GA counts towards your WP amount
- the entry GA needs to get at least 1 entry, otherwise it won't count and you'd have to make another one

Read carefully, opinions appreciated, will repost multiple times.
I'll answer all questions and consider all ideas.

Since the system didn't work as intended, we decided to make some major changes.

Problem n.1
No entries. Probably the biggest problem.

Solution: Removed Bundle points (R.I.P 2013-14) and merged them together with Win points.

To ensure that ALL giveaways will get entries as long as there's at least one person who wants the game, YOU will be the one who gets to decide, what is the value of your gift. You can do so either on our giveaways discussion page (where all the GAs are posted) or in giveaway description.

Example: Let's say I'm giving away Bioshock: Infinite. Since it was on sale multiple times, nobody will want to spend 50 points to enter. So instead of 50 points, I'll write "Value: 20 points" into comments description and the chances of getting more entries are way higher then. So once someone wins, I'm getting 20 points and he loses the same amount.
Minimum is 0 points (=free giveaway), maximum is the contributor value.
Applies for both bundle and non-bundle GAs, which means that we value all games the same - but you get to decide, how much the GA earns you.
If you don't write the amount of points you want, CV applies (inb4 1 CV = 1 win point).

Since BP and WP merged, I converted all your BPs to WPs at 1:1 rate.

Problem n.2 Leechers - we all hate them.

Solution:
The new borderline for instantly kicking is -25 Win Points.
This line applies only to new members (so not you).
After 1 month of membership, it doubles to -50.
Deadlines are the same, but they are firm now (especially for new members).

Problem n.3 Points spreading.
Since we spread points before the GA ends, it made people feel comfortable with entering giveaways even before the GA gets at least one entry.

Solution:
We will spread points after the GA ends from now on.

Other changes:
- I re-wrote the group main page and spreadsheet
- renamed giveaway discussion page, locked bundle giveaways page

More changes might follow.

I'm gonna make several giveaways so we'll see how it works.

Regarding negative WPs/BPs - must read.

There're people with negative points and deadlines which expired like two weeks (and more) ago.

Those people are:

the_true -30 WP; deadline expired three weeks ago.
morbid237 -1 BP; deadline expired a month ago.
Skreech -1 BP; deadline expired a month ago.
samstone13 -1 WP; deadline expired a month ago.

I didn't feel like kicking people for -1 WP/BP, but damn.. you had so much time to make a giveaway, so many new bundles were released and I'm sure there'd be some people interested in games from them.

I'm not really gonna message every member every time their deadline is about to expire, it's your responsibility to keep track of the spreadsheet whenever you win something...

Those members I mentioned will be kicked in 3 days unless they make a GA or contact me and explain the situation.

Its been good everyone, but I think its time I left the group. We're pretty much all on positive ratios, and so the giveaways have kinda run dry.

Heya guys ^^ Right now I´m at -17 Points and my deadline is 3. May but I´ll probaply wont find time to start new GAs by then.. I´ll make a bigger drop sometime between 05. and 07. May, so it would be great if the deadline could be extendet until then. Cheers!
