The Water Tribe
The Water tribe is comprised of two Tribes of which are split across the entire world. The Northern Water tribe being located at the heart of the North pole where the religious head of the society lives. The city of the Northern Tribe is a booming metropolis and commonly described as a Icy fortress near impossible to take. The streets are lined with water ways for people to be able to travel easily through the city but also in case of an attack. The Northern water tribe holds a stunning population of seven million people of which a large amount are taught how to bend the elements as part of their upbringing.

The Southern Water Tribe is the Smaller sister tribe of the Northern tribe which only comprises of three million people but prides itself with the rights for women. The Southern tribe is split among several living spaces and also trains all men and women to become benders if possible.

Military

The Military of the Water Tribe is mostly made of Militia that comprises of Infantry forces with a range of weapons from clubs, boomerangs and machetes. Even though these weapons are not the most effective the large amount of soldiers in the army of the Water Tribe makes up for their lack of Military technology. However, the other part of the army is made of Waterbenders that are capable for using their abilities for a range of tasks from forming Ice to healing and fighting the enemies of the Tribe.

The Navy of the tribe comprises of mostly Waterbenders because they are able to move the boats around with their powers in a quick and steady fashion. However on some occasions there will be militia onboard to help fight.

Southern Tribe:1.5 Million Milltia

Those were the rough Numbers until I sat down and did all the cultural changes.

Yeah, I understand but I was given these numbers. The idea is most people were trained from birth to be a waterbender but obviously arn't trained for the army, hence why they are Milltia. Also, prior to the One hundred years war the Water Tribe had no standing army.

Militia seems unrealistic with it being half the total population. The vast majority of actual fighters we've seen in the series have been male, with women focusing more so on healing if memory serves.
