NPG Q1 2014 Update

We had an open meeting Tuesday and touched on a little bit of everything for the first quarter of 2014 including games for planned events, a few projects that we'll be starting up in the next few weeks, and finalizing a few ideas that have been floating around for awhile. Our next meeting will be April 10, 2014 at 8pm CST on our voice server. Please feel free to attend and give your input.

We'd really like to see more people creating events or seeing if anyone wants to group up and play a game you might be interested in. I want to encourage you guys to post on the Facebook group and on the Steam group forum if you'd like to get something rolling on another game or have any suggestions about changing anything. NPG isn't a strict gaming community and is here for everyone to have fun on their free time. The more suggestions and ideas from you guys, the better.

With that being said, "planned" events that we have been posting will continue to be every Tuesday of the week at 8pm CST. Feel free to have something else going at the same time or at any other time that week. See if others would like to play too. If you have any problems creating events on the Facebook group or Steam group, get with Michael/SteelKage.

Some of the games we thought of listing for Q1 2014 on Tuesday nights @ 8pm CST are as follows:

The NPG Podcast continues to be recorded and live streamed on the third Thursday of every month. All of 2013's recordings are available and can be streamed and/or downloaded via our Lybsin server or through iTunes. If you have iTunes, be sure to subscribe to our cast so you don't miss out as soon as it's uploaded! This year we will continue on January 16th, our usual time. Any feedback would be great. We continue to stream games and live podcasts as much as we can. This year we plan on being more consistent and have odd streaming times outside of the planned events.

One of the things we talked about was having a stream night once a month in house with several members and maybe some other people at the same location. We may stream more console games and have a couple cameras setup. We'll see how it goes over the next couple of months.

We want to stream as much as possible and with as many of you as possible. If you are interested in streaming on the NPG channel, get with Matt/BoneHavoc about a stream key. When NPG's Twitch isn't streaming, we'd like it to be.

We now have some stream requirements for our channel:

• You should be able to stream at a steady enjoyable frame rate
  
• You should at least have an picture or avatar of your choice if you're not using a webcam
  
• You must use the template we are currently creating for the stream with your name and pointing viewers to our other sources. NPG's site (currently being worked on), etc.
  
• Interact with anyone who is interacting with the stream. Otherwise, why stream?

We've decided to try and use Enjin as our community website for this year and see how it goes. It won't be the "free" option and should do what we need it to until we find a more permanent and professional home. A forum is integrated into the site and works well. If you guys would leave any feedback or suggestions about this and while using it, that would be great and help us move on to something else or improve it from there.

*Note: This site hasn't been touched for some time. Give a us a couple weeks to get it all set up the way we would like to see it now. You can go ahead and sign up, though!

We plan on having a logo worked up (outside of our "NPG - New Project Gaming" one) by the end of Q1. It'll be more of a symbol or sign of NPG, not the simply stated and obvious. We'll be searching around for folks to work on it for us. If any of you have any ideas or references for any of these things, please let us know so that we may contact them and get started. Also, If any of you are talented in that department, let us know.

Anything as "free" as can be with websites, forums, and logos are what we're looking for. Spending a little money is not a big deal either as long as it does what we need it to and everyone is happy with it.

Something that came to discussion was our YouTube channel. We do plan on uploading a few videos in the next few months. We aren't sure what kind of videos they'll be, but keep an eye out. Also, if you have any ideas or would like to stick something up there too, get with us!

As mention before, we'd like to have several clan/guilds in our ventrilo playing games, interacting with everyone else on their free time, and have our future website and forum populated with them along with our social media we have going now. If you guys know of any groups of people that would like to integrate in with us or even just use our voice server, get them to contact us. We will happily setup a private room just for their group so they can interact with our community as well.
