The Ennio Morricone (Ennio Morricone, 10 November 1928) is an Italian composer, arranger, conductor and former trumpeter, who has composed music for more than 500 films and TV series, as well as contemporary works of classical music. His career includes a broad range of musical composition, making him one of the most versatile, prolific and influential music composers for films of all time. [1] [2] The music of Morricone has been used in more than 60 award-winning films.

The Morricone was born in Rome and from 1946 he has composed more than 100 classical pieces. At the end of the 1950s, he served as a successful studio arranger for RCA. Orchestrated over 500 songs and collaborated with musicians such as Paul Anka, Cetto Baker and Mina. But the Morricone became world famous composing music (period 1960-1975) for westerns from Italian directors such as Sergio Leone and Sergio Duccio Tesari Kormpoutsi like Trilogy of the dollar (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good , the Bad and the Ugly).

During the 1960s and 1970s, Morricone composed music for many types of films, from comedies to drama, thriller and historical films. Several of his compositions enjoyed commercial success, such as The Ecstasy of Gold, musical theme of the film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, in A Man with Harmonica, the Here's to You, which was interpreted by Joan Baez, and Chi Mai. Between 1964 and 1980, Morricone was also trumpeter and co-composer of the avant-garde free improvisation band Il Gruppo. He wrote the official song for the World Cup 1978.

Since the late 1970s, Morricone excelled in Hollywood, composing music for American directors like John Carpenter, Brian de Palma, Barry Levinson, Mike Nichols and Oliver Stone. The Morricone composed music for several films that won Oscars, like Days of Heaven, The Mission, The Untouchables, Cinema Paradiso and Bugsy. The Morricone also collaborated with Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore. In the 21st century, the music of Morricone used again on television and in movies such as Quentin Tarantino, Kill Bill (2003), Death Proof (2007), Inglourious Basterds (2009) and Django: The Punisher (2012).

In 2007, Morricone received the honorary Oscar "for the magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music". He was nominated for another five Oscars in the period 1979-2001. The Morricone has won three Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, five BAFTA, two European Film Awards, an honorary Golden Lion and a Polar Music Prize.
