Ok, so I have tested and confirmed that the following method works for forcing the use of the private L4D2 servers on Janus:


mm_dedicated_force_servers "209.98.155.113:27023,209.98.155.113:27024"

Note that you MUST use IP addresses and NOT hostnames in that directive. You can either enter that in the console or put that in your autoexec.cfg file located at

C:\path\to\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\autoexec.cfg


Don't forget, you can see the current listings of who is on what server at:

I put up a simple page that will now show all the players on all the servers on Janus so you can see who is playing where (and how well they are doing) in real time.

Also, as noted in the previous announcement, sv_search_key is broken in L4D2. However, I've confirmed that mm_dedicated_force_servers does work fine. Just use one of the private L4D2 servers (as noted on the web page) as the value for the mm_dedicated_... See the previous announcement for more info on that.

Well, it looks like Valve borked the sv_search_key setting in l4d2 so you can't use that to get on the steam group servers.


There is a workaround, however. You can set:

mp_dedicated_force_servers "209.98.155.114:27023"

or

mp_dedicated_force_servers "209.98.155.114:27024"

Supposedly, you can use both by separating them with a comma, but I haven't tried it yet

It's all set with pretty much the same setup as L4D (in terms of access).

The files for the L4D2 server are currently downloading. I should be able to have everything ready to go tomorrow for the L4D2 launch.

In conjunction with this, the L4D2 Demo server will be shut down tomorrow. I have also dropped the server instances for L4D down from 4 to 2 (1 priv., 1 pub).

I'm sure I'll see some of you online tomorrow.
