The only difference I see in the help is that chdir 'does not treat spaces as delimiters' so quote marks aren't needed if there are spaces in the directory name. Otherwise cd c:\cd\programdata\sam should work. Tested, neither does a partition change.

I think the intention is not to hit the limit and potentially annoy the minions of Gaben.
