I have the same problem, i get no cards :s
On the IM page does it say something like "## games left to idle, 31 idle now"?
If the last part , "31 idle now" is nay number other than 1 then IM is in multi-game idle mode. Until it is done doing that you will not get card drops.
Leave IM running and let it do it's thing. If Steam shows you in a game while IM is running it is working.

I started getting cards now, but VERY slowly. Like, one or two cards in 3 hours more or less.
IM can in no way influence or change the drop rates. That is controlled by Valve.
As long as Steam shows you in the games that is displayed on IM you are getting card drops.
Aslo, just in case you are, you can not play any games while IM is running. This will negatively affect drop rates.
