HL wars is inspired from the mod Lambda Wars incorporating an FPS/RP perspective between two factions: Resistance and the Combine in a dynamic persistent war. There are 4 main areas of gameplay. Combative: The main boots on the ground of the faction gunning it out on the frontlines with a variety of specific roles. Support: Responsible for the construction of forward bases, defenses, observation posts, main base upgrades, and engineering / maintenance. Logistical: responsible for maintaining effective supply routes to forward bases and the frontline, assists the commander with intelligence and acts as radio communications between all active bases and posts. They operate indirect weaponry from the rear and maintain combat readiness of all equipment. And the final role, Commander: Who is in charge of the entire faction's operations on the battlefield and in the rear, this is the RTS role. They never see combat and perform micromanagement and macromanagement with economic and military assets. Each map is a territory, each territory officers a specific benefit towards the faction controlling the territory. To capture a territory a faction must control all strategic points on the map to allow the opposing factions main base to lift from lockdown making it vulnerable to attack. If they succeed in taking over the main base they've captured the territory. If the combine wins, the next map options are closer to the white forest and the Outlands, if the resistance wins, the next map options are closer to the citadel and the inner city. The closer the war is to the main map of a faction the more technology there is available in the battle increasing the scale of combat. The purpose of this game mode was to create an idea that would reach out to multiple audiences. There are roles for the serious and passive rpers and roles for the semi-serious and casual players that all connect together and work with each other. The combat is S2k.
