I haven't heard of xanax pills being laced so i'm skeptical, xanax isn't an opiate so it's rarely cut with opiates. I think it's more likely he took the Fentanyl and then the xanax not realizing that the combination would kill him or he might have taken heroin (diamorphine) not realizing that it was fentanyl being sold as heroin, this is becoming more common and thousands of heroin users are dying because of it. With the drugs he had been taking it's clear that he had a very severe drug problem and he only had a matter of months or probably even weeks to get help or die. Poor guy must have been very depressed and had a terrible life for him to end up with a drug problem severe as this at 21. RIP.

Read autopsy report. It shows that he had an incredibly severe drug problem:

"Medications fentanyl and alprazolam were the cause of death, Urine tests also showed the presence of multiple powerful opiates, including Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid), Oxycodone and Oxymorphone, Tramadol amd Cocaine"

Hydromorphone and Oxymorphone are both very rare and very powerful and are generally only ever used in hospitals for people dying in extreme pain. Oxycodone and Hydrocodone are also really strong. Some of the strongest drugs you would find in a 21 year old. Most 21 year olds don't have access to these rare and expensive hospital painkillers. He must have been using these drugs for a while and had built up a massive tolerance. Only thing stronger than those drugs is Fentanyl, which is impossible to take safely (100 times more potent than pure morphine/heroin), he also took multiple xanax pills which on their own isn't deadly but combine that with Fentanyl and now you are 100% dead.
