关于 Get Half-Life Alpha/Beta Builds released to the Public.

Since Late 2003, There's been interest in Alpha/Beta Content for many of Valve's Titles such as Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and CS:GO, but Half-Life 1 hadn't been seen in the same light until early 2013.

In December 2012, A Photo of a Half-Life Alpha Build dated December 16 1997 was uploaded by Journalist Geoff Keighley (Author of The Final Hours series) on Instagram. Shortly after, Another build dated 9/8/97 (aka the 0.52 alpha) was uploaded on Reddit in January 2013, Former Sierra Employee Marc Tardiff later posted a Photo of another Half-Life Alpha Build dated 10/25/1997 in 2015 and on recent occasions, Keighley has been known to have other Half-Life Build discs as well.

More recently, Former playtester Chad Jessup uploaded in late 2024 2 builds from October 1998 known as the Net Test builds. These were intended to test the Game's multiplayer functionality, but they've (especially Net Test 1) been found to also still contain several differences in the Singleplayer campaign.

Despite this, When Fans Reached out to other people like keighley to express their Interest in seeing the builds they have be released, They (Especially Keighley) have refused to release said builds saying Valve would have to give permission to Release the Builds in question, This is where us (Half-Life Fans) Come in.

The Goal: Show Valve our Interest for them to release more Half-Life 1 Alpha/Beta Builds (and any additional development files) to the Public.

If you'd like to volunteer In this Effort, it is important you bare the following points in mind.

1) Don't Email-bombarding Valve or Keighley about releasing said content:
Why? Because such behaviour will only make Valve less likely to release Such content in the Future. Spamming Valve or Geoff Keighley with emails about releasing HL 1 Cut content is not the intent of this group. What this group intends to do is to make Valve consider the interest/demand to allow more people (Such as Keighley) to release Half-Life 1 Alpha/Beta Builds or for them to open-source many of their Development assets (e.g. Models, Maps and texture sources) not currently available in the SDK for Research or Modding Use.

2) The Half-Life 2 Leak:
It's fairly known that the Half-Life 2 Leak from October 2003 is cited as being one of the reasons to why Valve is against Releasing Cut Content. Despite this, When asked in early 2017 about releasing cut content, Gabe Newell stated that if enough people expressed interest, They would see it as a strong signal to consider releasing cut content.

By gathering support, We'll be expressing to Valve our Interest for them to allow the release of either more Half-Life 1 Development Builds or additional development files not publicly available in the Half-Life SDK to be released to the Public.

The Tags #ReleaseHLAlpha or #ReleaseHLBeta (Or alternatives like #ReleaseHL1Alpha for example) can be also be used to help spread the interest in the release of said content.
