the correct rule for multiple legendaries/planeswalkers is if a player controls one or more with the same name (or for planeswalkers, the same planeswalker type), they choose one to bugger off back to their owner's graveyard
also, according to errata, vines of the recluse -can- be used on untapped creatures, which is interesting ( and would've saved my 10/11 mushroom :v )

i'll see if i can find out the exact reasons why that happens, but i think it's mostly something to do with the formatting of the card - specifically, that it isn't entirely part of the first effect.
