Need rat-ings? No problem!

the Games With Rats curator page is a pillar of rat-focused games journalism, but i must admit, this editors room gets away with some pretty lazy review standards. sure, all you need to get a recommendation is depict a rat in any manner, but that's part of the problem. if the GWR editors room bothered playing more games, we'd probably have a trillion reviews up on our page, but the reality is, sometimes games just have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of rats in their marketing material? it's easy game. just take a look at the store page or some lets play content to write up a surface level review. unfortunately, Ratopia is a victim of these publishing standards, and that's a damn shame. I'm Sorry.

we're not going to make a habit of highlighting specific games like this, but GWR wholeheartedly recommends Ratopia as the première rat-themed colony builder. is the game all that good? ehhhhhhhh. it's fine! it's very very cute! it honestly doesn't do too much with the rat theming, but that's all good when you can tax your ratizens (yes the game calls them that) into financial destitution, recreating that oh-so-classic Smashing Pumpkins lyric. or you can be nice and tax the ultra-rich to provide welfare for the working class. that's really the genius of Ratopia. what it lacks in storytelling depth and its really really really restrictive camera, it's just a rat themed (monarchist) economy sandbox, and that's kinda neat.
