Today, only 68 years ago the event known as D-Day which took place in 1944 will forever be known in history as a turning point for Allied and U.S. Armed Forces who invaded the Normandy beachhead of German occupied France as a attempt to pushback Nazi Germany and create a second front code named "Operation Overlord". At approximently 6:00 AM the U.S. Army Rangers stormed Omaha Beach with an amphibious assault only to be met by a overwhelming wall of enemy machinegun and artillery fire. With Courage and Perseverance the Americans took control of the beach and pushed back enemy forces. Today we should remember and honor those that fought.
