In memory of Stephen "Miggy" Chavez

Florida LAN 2018 announcement/details!

Hey guys my name’s mazlli and some of you may remember this reddit post. Stephen “Miggy” Chavez, original founder of FLan.tf had passed away and is sadly no longer able to host FLans. We, friends and family of Miggy, have come together to dish out another FLan in honor of Miggy, however, due to certain constraints the tournament event will be hosted ONLINE sometime during the summer. Calling the event something other than Florida LAN wouldn’t fit the agenda, although it can be misleading.

In his memory his family started this non-profit organization appropriately called "Miggy's Gift". When Stephen passed away, his parents and siblings were devastated, lost, and confused. With the help of family and friends, they were encouraged to channel their grief toward Stephen's hospital gown idea. Quickly, the project took a life of its own. Inspired by Stephen's story, a children's book and plush stuffed dog were added to the project. Miggy, as he was affectionately called by his video game community, would be the main character of the book, along with Myer, his beloved weiner dog. Stephen taught us we are our best selves when we are helping others. He left his family this gift to share with children

The last few FLANs were hosted as actual LANs, this year’s event will be hosted in honor of Miggy’s love for the TF2 Community. FLAN 2018, again, will be an online prolander AND highlander tournament. Participants of either tournament will receive an in-game TF2 medal[i.imgur.com]. PARTICIPANTS

We have a donation page setup directly onto the Miggy’s Gift website[www.miggysgift.com]. Please bear in mind that while this website does not seem very professional, it is officially owned by Miggy's family and was made with every effort to carry on Miggy's legacy. If you are donating, please confirm the amount and the information you fill in before making a donation. Anyone who donates $5 USD or more AND provides there Steam profile page, cannot stress enough how important that is, will receive an in-game TF2 medal[i.imgur.com]. If you fail to provide a steam URL as directed below, you will not be able to receive an in-game medal. When you are filling out the billing information please paste your steam URL under the Company section.[i.imgur.com]

The two online tournaments will feature both Highlander and Prolander. Game modes both favored by Miggy. The online tournaments are to be hosted on July 14th through July 15th and will be live on Twitch at eXtvESports[www.twitch.tv]. Please keep in mind that these are TEAM signups and at the moment only a certain numbers of teams can sign up for Prolander or Highlander.

All servers for the tournament will be located in North America. This means you are free to play even if you are not from this region, but you will have to deal with high ping discrepancies as there are no other regional servers available.

When the tournament rolls around be sure to tune in and catch in on all the FLAN action!
