Where to start? 2025 was a crazy year for Firesquid! It was the busiest we have ever been with new releases, demos & playtests, game announcements, event organization… So let’s break it down!

BECOMING SAINT

All the believers rallied on July 15th for the release of Becoming Saint. With its unique minimalist art style and dark humour, the game combines contrasting historical, religious, and political themes with a cute and simple aesthetic. The game is also playable on Steam Deck, allowing you to lead your followers from anywhere you want.

XENOPURGE

Being a fan of video games often means being behind a screen, but here it’s on another level, thanks to Xenopurge. Mixing setting and lore from Aliens with vibe Duskers’ vibes, Xenopurge was released on November 22nd during our publisher sale. The game received tons of positive feedback with a 92% positive rating on Steam in its first week of release and won the Most Innovative Game award at Indie X showcase. We also had a nice PC Gamer article highlighting what makes the game unique: “It’s tense, claustrophobic, and everyone is probably going to die. It's great!”.

MODUWAR

Already available in Early Access since June 3rd, our old-school RTS, Moduwar, is planned to release in 2026. In the game, you play as Modu, an alien species, and that is what makes it unique: your base is your body, and your organs are your weapons. The retro-inspired aesthetic of the game is also recreated in its cutscenes, which are all full-motion videos. We are already working on the new cinematics, and you can get a glimpse at the behind-the-scenes here!

CITY TALES - MEDIEVAL ERA

Our very first citybuilder, City Tales: Medieval Era, will soon be out of Early Access. With its unique district building system and its zoning mechanics, City Tales proves to be both an architectural challenge and a relaxing moment for the players who have already tried it! With 200 reviews reached and a 91% positive score on Steam, City Tales is on its way out of Early Access with a full release on January 29th, 2026. Your glorious cities will fully come to life with new buildings, new companions, and storylines!

REUS 2

This new year for Reus 2 came up with a ton of new exciting updates and content! First, at the beginning of 2025, we launched our first DLC, the Ice Age, bringing mammoths and new mechanics. Then came a second DLC, the Everglades, with, for the first time, a biome made of two different patches (water and land). Recently, we’ve announced our third DLC releasing early 2026, the Grasslands! 

We also had the pleasure of bringing the Giants to console on Xbox and Switch to expand the world of Reus 2. We’re not forgetting our PC players, as our last update brought high-score boards that we celebrated by organizing a contest to unlock new exclusive bonus biotica. Guess what? In less than 2 days, the two challenges were cleared! 

We also celebrated the first anniversary of Reus 2 since its release. We could not believe how far we had come between the DLCs and free updates, and we are still amazed by how much players enjoy their time with the Giants!

This year was the 4th edition of TactiCon! TactiCon is a digital convention celebrating strategy games of all kinds on Steam. Co-organized with our partner Hooded Horse, we were able to feature upcoming games with demos, new releases, and big discounts. The event started with a showcase full of exclusives, followed by panels & talks by passionate developers around strategy games.

It is always a true pleasure to highlight indie gems, meet great developers, and learn more about our common passion: strategy games. Next year, TactiCon will evolve into a new format, we will keep you updated!

Huge milestone, we had our very first Firesquid publisher sale on Steam! It was an important event as we:

• Released in 1.0 Xenopurge after 6 months in Early Access

• Discounted all the Firesquid games

• Announced our new games: Ex Sanguis and PRELUDE Dark Pain

• Announced a new DLC for Reus 2: Grasslands

• Pushed major updates for Reus 2, City Tales: Medieval Era, and Moduwar

• Launched demos and playtests for Vultures - Scavengers of Death, Ex Sanguis

It was an intense event, and a great recognition of our hard work to be validated by Valve for this spot and the Publisher Sale. It gives us even more energy for 2026!

2025 was an interesting year. We learned a lot, released and announced new games, got our first publisher sale on Steam. So what’s next? Our upcoming games are currently all dark turn-based tactical games. Is there a new tendency here? Maybe!

PRELUDE DARK PAIN

PRELUDE Dark Pain is a dark fantasy turn-based Tactical RPG that puts you in the shoes of Soren, a former glory warrior of Stratera, until fate violently pulls him back onto the battlefield. Compose and customize your squad with powerful heroes, engage in strategic battle, overcome side objectives to fight against the Ashen Crusade before the DARK PAIN consumes everything.

VULTURES - SCAVENGERS OF DEATH

Vultures - Scavengers of Death is a tactical turn-based set in a world inspired by 90's horror survival games. As an operative of VULTURES, scavenge the infested metropolis for materials and information that could cure the infection plaguing the world. We’ve been very pleased with the art reception on Reddit which seems to be appreciated by the horror and zombie communities!

EX SANGUIS

In Ex Sanguis, Bleed the world back to life in a series of tactical, turn-based bloodbaths! Lead your STILLAE, elite warriors fighting to save a dying world from the forces of STASIS. Slay foes, hurl them into explosives, kick them back on the timeline, and trigger chain events where elegance and blood flow as one. With a new playtest every month, it’s been really fun to watch players discover its somber universe and wanting to play more and more!

We were featured in the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2025. With 7k viewers and tons of comments, we were all very pleased with the warm welcome the viewers gave the game. We are excited to publish and support Lightbulb Crew next gem and can't wait to share more about it!
