Dead Games Watch is a Community by Mr. X (linked to Dead Game News by the YouTubber Ross Scott / Accursed Farms) that wants to make more people in the World aware about the problem of Always-Online DRM in Video Games.

Dead Games Watch is available on Steam (as a Steam Group and a Steam Curator). The Dead Games Watch Instagram account is unfortunately suspended because of Meta's Censorship.

More and More Video Game Companies are starting to require (paid) Video Games and Content, constantly to be connected to the internet / servers, in order to play it. This is called "Always-Online DRM". (Nowadays, Always-Online DRM is also being used in Games that have single player components. Sometimes, it's even being used in single player-only Games.)

The biggest problem with Always-Online DRM is; when the companies are deciding to shutdown the servers for good, then the (paid) Games and Content will become completely unplayable forever. Besides of that, the companies are not willing to come with end-of-life plans for the Games they have shutdown. (end-of-life plans to keep those Games playable in some form)

Always Online-DRM might be used by Companies for some reasons, but at the same time, it's especially being used as a hostile move towards paying consumers and those who want to own, to collect or to preserve Video Games.

This practice of killing Games must change. It should no longer be acceptable. It should even be illegal.

Our mission is to help Ross to make more people in the World aware about the problem of Always-Online DRM in Video Games.

The Dead Games Watch Steam Curator has now 700 Followers

Today, the Dead Games Watch Steam Curator has reached the 700 followers.

It seems that the number of curator followers is still growing very fast.

The nummer of daily unique curator visitors remains quite high (with an all-time-high peak of 540 unique visitors on a single day, on January 25, 2025)

There are also three new members that have joined the Dead Games Watch Steam Group.

The Dead Games Watch Steam Group itself has now 4 staff members and 11 non-staff members.

There is 1 Dead Games Watch Group non-staff member in the Dead Games Watch Group Chat, and, there are 3 other people in the Dead Games Watch Group Chat. (We are currently not active there, but we would like to welcome the people there as well.)

Again, a big thanks to everyone who is supporting and / or following us!! It's appreciated!!

Every new person that is joining our Community and / or our Steam Curator will make us stronger in creating awareness about:

- The Biggest problem with Always-Online DRM in Video Games: The Part where companies are deciding to shutdown their servers forever, which will make our (paid) Games and Content completely unplayable forever.

- The amount of Dead Games & the amount of Games that will be killed in the (near) future.

- That this practice of killing our (paid) Games and Content should NOT be acceptable. (This practice should even be illegal)

- That companies must come with End-of-Life Plans to keep our (paid) Games (and Content) playable in some form.

Some days ago, on May 22, 2025, the YouTubber (& the Leader of the Campaign against the Killing of Video Games) Ross Scott (Accursed Farms) had released a New Video on YouTube:

This video is about the following:

● Last year, Stop Killing Games had been in touch with the BEUC (A European Consumer Rights Organization). They might be able to propose new law, or, to clarify existing law within the EU Commission down the line. If that ever happens, then it's going to take a long time.

● The current leadership of the BEUC is very data oriented. They do want to have a lot of data showing there is a big problem going on in the Gaming Industry.

● In this video Ross is also talking about a big growing list (a new version of the Official Spreadsheet) with over 700 Games (Now almost 800 Games), and he is explaining the categories on the list, and, he is also talking about how bad the situation of Killing / Destroying Video Games has become.

"There is NO always-online DRM"
Just wanted to say that Denuvo still operates as an online check-in platform, you need an internet connection to launch a denuvo game, even if you lose connection after it's started. Try launching a denuvo game offline and it'll tell you "please exit offline mode and set steam to 'go online' to play this game"
Source: Tried playing several Denuvo games on steamdeck while traveling. Every single one refused to launch.
