Delicious Cornish Pasties!

What is now known as The Glorious Cornish Pasty has been marvelled at thorought history. Archeological evidence shows basic drawings of pasty-like objects on prehistoric cave walls. In Ancient Rome, Julius Caesar himself was said to be fond of 'pastry surrounding a beef filling', and in sites such as Pompeii many such artefacts have been discovered. The cornish pasty as we know it today was delicately designed by the wives of Cornish tin miners, and the miners would use the creased edge of the pastry to avoid getting their dirty hands on the delicious treat they were eating . The pasty soon became a smash hit thorought the West of England, and Queen Victoria declared it 'The greatest snack ever created!'.

Following the Cornish war of independence in 1972, Cornwall became an independent state and as such the cornish pasty was declared the national dish. Under international law it is now illegal to name a pasty 'Cornish' if it is not so.
