Hey Guys,

Long time no update, but since I found some free time to update you with what's going on.

First of all, I promised that a new Game Along would go live this week (on Monday specifically), but sadly I had some urgent matters to attend to, but I'm glad to announce that it finally went live and it's a bit different.

I felt alienating people from a certain genre they don't like, made the discussion really one sided, so I opened up multiple genre threads where people can freely discuss about the games they are playing currently, have recently finished or other games that are stealing their time. I will see how this goes and decide if this is how we continue forward.

As for the backlog bit, I have a few nice ideas in the works and will share more in the future (when my Exams are over, so somewhere around the start of April).

Snort Cannon

In my opinion, yes.

I finished Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts on the PS4 tonight, wrapping up all the missions after about 35 hours or so of experimenting with different loadouts and generally exploring the maps. Pretty fun game.

I liked Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 better, but what Contracts really does is (mostly) focuses on the actual gameplay mechanics, namely that sweet sweet sniping mechanic CI Games has built, that is hands down the best in gaming…and stealth. You can definitely run and gun if you so choose, but given the focus of the game, stealth factors in more prominently. It’s inevitable that you’ll have to fend off some close up baddies with your machine gun or pistol, but with proper planning, you can also go with sniping almost exclusively, and can actually even keep your runs bloodless (outside of your bounty targets and mission targets of course) should you desire.

This game really takes a page from Killzone Mercenaries, a title you might have played if you own a Vita, inasmuch as each mission is more a self contained set of contracts and goals, despite being part of the overarching story such as it is. Speaking of which, the story is more a side note to the gameplay. There is enough there to keep things interesting, and the setting itself is pretty cool, but mostly, it is an enhancement rather than the main flavor.

Graphics are top tier, or close enough to it. Kill animations aren’t as insane as in the Sniper Elite series, but they are still pretty cool nonetheless, and where the Sniper Elite series focuses on the kills themselves, Sniper Ghost Warrior pays more attention to the bullet itself. The actual maps are very screenshot worthy. When you're looking out over the mountains from the side of a cliff, you'll definitely appreciate the attention to detail here.

A few other notes: I did experience a couple hard crashes, but fortunately the save system is mostly very forgiving. The upgrade system is simple but effective in improving and adding to your skillset, and the weapon selection is decent, with 10 sniper rifles and an assortment of pistols, machine guns, and accessories (such as grenades lol).

There is a lot of replay value trying to hit all your optional goals and exploring new ways to travel the maps, etc…

I'd actually recommend this game at its asking price if you are a fan of the more Hitman style introspection and exploration and especially if you love the sniping mechanics presented in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3.

Now for an update. I'm currently on a holiday, but I have a plan for CTB going forward. There's a lot of new fresh ideas that I want to implement, but it will take some time.

What can you expect ? Well this year, I want backlog counts to make a comeback, with rewards at the end of the year for the people that finish the most games. Giveaways for group members only and much more.

For now, the current game along will stay for one more month, until the changes are ready to be implemented.

But until then, I hope all of you have a nice holiday.
