Discussions and recommendations of the chillest games Steam has to offer

Whether you're a fierce pacifist, just easily stressed, or a hardcore gamer enjoying a break now and then - this is an oasis of calm and combat-free games that are story-driven and/or have adventure elements. If there are any deadly threats, jump scares, time pressure etc. it should be mentioned.

If you'd like to be a part of our little community, discuss games, give feedback, post your own recommendations, ask questions etc., you're welcome to join this group. I also publish occasional announcements with info on relevant games on sale, upcoming releases to look forward to, new curator lists to browse through, and whatever else might be of interest.

Please note that I'm a Social Justice Druid with a fairly good grip on what "Freedom of Speech" does and does not mean. I am going to clean up verbal diarrhea and prevent its spread wherever I have admin powers. It sucks that I have to mention it, but this very much includes transphobia and downplaying of systemic racism.

I'm literally too sick and tired to deal with anything these days, but it feels like this Pride month is more important than ever. So let me just try and state a few things, in case there was any doubt.

This group is firmly supportive of (and indeed run by) the "alphabet mafia" that "stole the rainbow from God" (actually we're just sharing it).

Who we are and who we're attracted to (or not) is NOT political. Showing our existence and telling our stories in games is not political. The idea that we should have equal worth and rights is not political for anyone with some basic decency. The idea that trans people harm society and especially children is recycled anti-gay propaganda from the 1980's.
(Oh, and while we're at it with that whole liberation thing: pointing out that excessive killing and starving of civilians is bad is not f*cking political unless you believe there's a valid political position where such things are acceptable.)

If you do think this is "too political", by which you mean it makes you upset and/or you don't want to deal with it - don't let the virtual door hit you on your way out.

For everyone else, the curator's Diversity list is up year-round. Feel free to share your own favourites either here or in the discussions!

Look at this, we've reached 100 group members and 850 curator followers!
Never expected that 4 years ago, when I just wanted to make it easier to find the kind of games I'm most interested in - nice and peaceful, but also telling a story and/or letting you explore places.

To celebrate our little community and this special time of consumerism love and stuff, I'm giving away a gift copy of Gravity Ghost! I got one when I bought the game a few years ago. Then I wondered why TF I bought a "physics game" when I'm so clumsy with controls-based gameplay, but maybe now is the time for me and someone else to finally check it out?

Hallo, I hoped I was able to post somewhere in this group and I wanted to say I am so very thankful to have found the lists and recommendations as well as the thoughtful reviews that I am really finding helpful. I am more a fan of gaming than an actual player, since I am embarrassingly bad at controllers and have hand issues that make playing most games that my friends and kids play frustrating. I do like House Flipper and have played Palia and Minecraft with my kids but I always play solo Minecraft on peaceful

Anyway, I wanted to say thank you again as it's been quite a while since browsed games on steam as I simply don't know many others that play peaceful or point and click casual games enough to get good recommendations.
I am excited to find quite a few games from your lists that I will be able to give a try and almost definitely love many of them.

@jimster, people won't get notifications of comments here unless they've checked "Subscribe to thread" when posting a comment, it seems...
You could start a "Sales and special offers" thread or something, if you like - discussion threads are easier to subscribe to. I've subscribed to the whole discussion forum, but only saw your comment here by coincidence. That is a lot of interesting chill games!
