Hello folks
Firstly thanks for being a part of the group (although I reckon half if not more have no idea what sort of messed up dive they have stumbled into). As some of you know, I am currently in my last year of University studying Psychology and Sociology. A large part of my work this year will be in the form of a dissertation, and I have chosen you lot to be the subject of study. Gamers. There is a hell of a lot of speculation out there regarding gaming and its effect on individuals and society, but comparatively little actual research. We are all used to seeing the modern media with wildly inaccurate headlines like "Gaming has turned poor Billy into a serial killer". Anyway, I wish to conduct a closed group qualitative study in a widely spread gamer community. Before you run from the man in the white coat waving the sharp looking instrument of nastiness at you, stop! This study is actually very simple, all it involves is you writing down your honest and heartfelt opinion. That is it. There will be a forum space prepared over on my website where I will post up a question every few days and all you would have to do is check the latest question then write down the thoughts that pop into your noggin. These questions will probably induce some personal memories and intimate inspection of your lives, but none of that need make it into the answering post. Once I near the date in which I will start to post questions and begin the study the section of the forum will be locked so that only individuals participating in the study will be able to see the space.
