Two days on from our thoroughly convincing win against {D!} (who disbanded in the wake of their defeat) the Armed Bastards made an impressive winning start in our first Ladder match against fellow Brits “Cobblers”.

Things didn't actually start out so well, with firstly Scanman failing to make it on time, leaving Hapveg to step minutes before we started. Our first go as survivors wasn't to be straight forward either...

After successfully negotiating our way past the house on BH1 we were caught by a boomer at the same time as the tank spawned by the car on the corner. Some poor positioning from myself led to me getting hit through the gap in the wire fencing to my death, while Kirkland was struck by hanging glitch, his hands holding onto the car with his feet touching the ground.

Thankfully Hapveg and Jim managed to escape a smoker and hunter attack by the skin of their teeth before lifting Kirkland up and eventually making it home. However, it showed us the Cobblers tactic of saving their spawns together was different from the usual approach of opportunism we have faced on a regular basis, although it did give us plenty of long lulls to recover.

Soon into their round it became very obvious that their survivor play wasn't quite up to scratch as they failed to deal with hunters going for scratches, missing with melees regularly. One had to be revived just outside the house which they continually got stuck at for a spell. Eventually they moved forward enough to spawn the tank and one was slow enough to move back to allow me to smoker him. Although he got free he was easy meat for Hapveg's tank and was soon joined on the floor by another buddy (he'd already been damaged and wasn't quick enough to make it to the bridge) The other two ran back across to the otherside of the valley and just kept running to the point they made it back to the end of the opening straight. There a boomer vomit and Hapveg managed to take care of them to my surprise. (I was miles away preparing to try a drag across the ravine with my smoker, hence I'm bit sketchy on the detail.)

BH2 was a fairly short affair with a tank spawn as soon as the teams moved towards the stairs. Myself and Jim managed to make it past the tank and towards the alarmed door. Three of the Cobblers managed to make it past, although Kirkland swiftly took two out with the forklift. The last one made it out of the building before Jim finally took him down with a Hunter.
