Improving the Workshop One Map at a Time

Welcome to CQC

Chamber Quality Control is a group dedicated to improving the quality of the levels that are available on the Portal 2 workshop. CQC works to educate the community about good and bad design choices so that a quality filter may be applied to the levels that receive attention. We wish to spur community interaction and encourage thoughtful design.

What can you do to help?
  • Learn to recognize good and bad level design choices
  • Find, share, and up-vote maps that showcase good design choices
  • Provide constructive criticism for levels with recognizable design flaws
  • Talk to other members in the community about level design

We just hit 50 members! I hope we continue to grow. Ever since I started this group I've been staggered by the sheer amount of talented and hard-working mapmakers (and other content creators, but mapmakers are in the majority) while scowering the community for people to bring in to this group. To all of them who are listening: Keep on doing what you're doing! Your work is amazing, and I can't get enough of it!

So our sp000ky contest is done, and the results are in:
1st place- Fortnight's Traction and Emancipation with 3 votes
2nd place- Joseph12h93's An Old Test with 1 vote

REMINDER
If anyone wants to start up their own contests, they can! Same goes with just making discussion topics.
So if you want to say something or make a contest for a map and you'd like [CQC_member_amount / 4] people to hear it and possibly respond to it, go ahead!

I need to play Portal 2 tests more, recently got a ton of games for my custom-built gaming PC so haven't been playing much

So how about a contest? It's been a while. Maybe something to keep the maps easier to make (and play) to get a bit more participation.

Understood. It's been a real evolutionary process for me in this realm. The feedback is what motivates most of us me thinks. I tried my own group if have not seen and it is doing the same thing as p2lc. There are only a few people left participating. Speaking for myself, the addictive nature of this game creates a roller-coaster of fun to burn outs. I have decided to scale back my maps to smaller and simpler challenges. Otherwise i may find myself spending 50 hours a week on difficult maps that many don't appreciate.
