I've copied the announcement off the forums page, for the guys who don't check forums! For some who thought UberStrike was "soon-to-be-dead", don't fret! Shaun's just released an announcement, stating that the Portal, FB and Mac App will or have been closed, instead being released on Steam. Haven't really had great news in quite a while, so any news is good news, especially if it's reviving our beloved Ubz!

Hi guys,

Ok, we had a solid day of bug fixing and working out how to use Steam tooling to better protect the game from hacking. Here's a shot on Windows 8.1 running UberStrike with the Steam overlay enabled.

To address some of the questions from the last post:

- UberStrike on Steam will work on Windows and Mac. You don't need a powerful computer, anything within the last 4 years is OK
- We've added some extra protection to the game, so we hope to see less hacking on Steam (plus, we'll ban Steam accounts)
- UberStrike on the Mac App Store is no longer. All Mac players should use the Steam Mac version.
- We hope to submit soon - but no promises on the exact date (remember Valve needs to approve us before we can go live)
- We will try to keep in touch more regularly, however we're pretty busy and also need time away from our computers ;)
- Buying credits is way easier - you just use your Steam Wallet. Buying credits helps us keep the game running, yay!
- Facebook players will be able to easily setup an email/password and link it to their Steam account - we've build some special tools for that
- Yes, I have a lot of credits. I worked hard for them!
- We will try to bring back some older items, like the No AP shirts etc - We have to clean out the closet and see what's lurking in there


Regarding the browser version of UberStrike (Portal and Facebook) - yes, they will be retired. If you're not already aware, the Unity webplayer plugin uses an old architecture that is being deprecated in most major browsers. The cutoff date is September 2015. We will need to have all UberStrike players running on Steam before then. We'll announce more about "the great migration" in the coming weeks, and will give plenty of time for players to move across.
