The year is 967 A.D the king has just died of a stroke and he has no living heirs and no relatives the kingdom has slipped into darkness and despair. The three major Dukes have made a claim on their holdings as the next 'true' king. Most of the minor lords have floked to the banner of one of the three major Dukes secruing their safety, although the major trade hubs have formed their own states and may seek protection from a Duke. The relgious elites also share a precarious postion with the merchents. To the east the vile and savage Bogsmen are gather to launch larger and larger raids against villages and small towns. But this is not the greatest threat the winters are growing harsher and longer and the common folk grow hungry.
