Insertion is a new custom Hostage rescue map featured in the Operation Breakout of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It was designed by Oskmos.

This large open map features non-linear hostage rescue.
CTs choose one of four spawn positions from which to rain a quaint cottage.
Ts need to prepare for an assault from any angle and guard the hostage closely.

- This map is unique because when a round starts, Counter-Terrorists only have 10 seconds to purchase weapons and equipment in the hanger. The CTs can also select 4 starting zones (The 1st is a Helicopter, which is a Hostage rescue zone, the second and third are SWAT vans, and the fourth is a boat.). Due to this, this map favors the Counter-Terrorists. Usually in other Hostage Rescue maps, the Terrorists have the advantage.
- Insertion has thick fog, possibly for balance to ensure snipers would not be able to overpower enemies. However, when playing with bots, they are unaffected by the fog and they can clearly see enemies even at extreme ranges (on expert).
