Talking about Games, the Universe, and Everything

This little group is an experiment to find a place to talk about games, pop culture and everything that makes this bleak and dystopian world fun.

A kind of "private forum" where we keep can keep the riffraff out and celebrate gaming, not showing off how snide and sarcastic we can be.

Discussing (and dissecting) games can often be just as much fun as playing them, and this is a place to do it. Feel free to post, comment and share your thoughts and opinions.

(We are currently using the Groupchat as an makeshift IRC, it works surprisingly well)

After a few hundred years in existence, The Water Cooler is still alive! Shambling with bits of flesh falling off, alive nonetheless. So, as a public announcement, I'm reminding you people that we exist and that we always welcome talk about videogames. So, if you feel like discussing something - give us a shot. We're extremely unlikely to bite.

After over four months in beta, it’s safe to say this little group has been an unforeseen success (not that our expectations were very high to begin with). We’re happy to have quite a few regulars and commenters already, but would like to hear from even more of you – if you haven’t already, come swing by the private group forum to discuss games, life, art and anything in between in a relaxed atmosphere where we’ll never judge you (but can always edit your posts to make you look silly).

For even happier leisure times, come visit the group chat, occasionally bursting with activity whenever anyone feels like it or when we’re trying to get some multiplayer action going. Just remember that wearing pants is strictly optional and you’ll fit right in.

No matter if you want to change the world one mind at a time, vent your frustrations or just hang out with a bunch of picky(and incredibly handsome) videogame enthusiasts, the group is here to help.

Finished Vampire: The Masquerade: Shadows of New York, sequel to Coteries of New York. Liked it, but it felt like a more linear game, with less choices and consequences, and overall way less stress and intensity in both the narrative and the overall mechanics. Liked the first one more.

Finished Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. What a sad and nostalgic game. Ending really made me cry a lot. A lot of 90s kids nostalgia in there, with some very sad events throughout the game. Quite the emotional experience.

Pathologic 3 is out with good reviews. Less survival but more strategy than previous titles, somehow I've waited for the right mood for 2nd game. Not really there but it might be soon. Controls are good for Deck but may need tweak graphics

Yeah, that's how SteamOS works as well, with backdrop to KDE desktop environment. IIRC Heroic Game Launcher works on Windows as well and it is able to add Epic / GOG games to Steam big picture launcher, if you wanted to tap those libraries as well. You just log into your GOG / Epic / Amazon accounts and it'll download, set them up and add to Steam for you.

It also comes with Proton profiles for Linux, which is like super neat, but unnecessary for you.

The charger also has a port to connect a monitor to it in case I want to be fancy somewhere and also plug in mouse / keyboard into it. It's literally just a PC with an overlay / UI on top and some apps to customise the performance / power profiles.

And most importantly, ALL my library carries over so I don't have to rebuy games. One of the reasons why a Switch is a big no for me.

But there is still Windows underneath, so with another button you can switch to full blown Windows and use whatever you want on it.

I don't know how well Epic and EA App and Battle net work with controllers and what not, but I don't have a need for those atm since I am mostly playing games on Steam and via Game Pass anyways.
