Abilene, Dickenson County, State of Kansas ~ Late Evening

Howdy folks, Dead Eye’d John here handing in my report on the collection of my latest bounty. Armed with my trusty Winchester Rifle and Colt Dragoon Revolver I set out for the city of Abilene in Dickenson County to collect the bounty of one “John Wesley”, an outlaw, prolific gunslinger and cattle rustler, wanted dead or alive for $4,000 by the Governor of the State of Texas. After arriving shortly before seven 'o'clock, I set up a position on the roof of a chemist’s store, opposite “The Bull’s Head” tavern that I gathered from the locals Mr Wesley liked to visit often to drink himself into a stupor.

Sure enough, come eight ‘o’clock he arrived with three of his cow herding gang. I figured shooting a man dead before he’d had at least one or two drinks would be rude, so I waited till he had downed two shots of whiskey before bringing my rifle to bear, arming at his head and using a nearby Star Spangled Banner to judge wind direction, fired through a front facing window of the tavern killing him instantly. Seeing their fellow outlaw fall, the three other gents scattered in a panic along with other startled patrons of the tavern. Quickly and before the Sheriff arrived, I swooped down from the roof and brought Mr Wesley’s corpse out and straddled him atop my horse, Blue-Star and rode swiftly out of the city before handing the corpse as well as the bounty collection notice over to the Texas Rangers and receiving payment shortly after.
