ALPHA's CAMPAIGN | Campaign Writeup- AZURE Blues

In July 2022, the AAF government was sufficiently convinced of the efficacy of BLUE that permission was granted to move the FOB AZURE onto the mainland, with the final location being right next to Altis Airfield and inside the no-mans land.

BLUE conducted several policing operations, including one where they captured an ex-AAF Colonel who had defected to FIA, along with a significant number of troops. BLUE blew away his bodyguards, and finally locked him up inside the only porta-potty in AZURE. This was ironic, but unfortunately that really was the only toilet. A lot of latrine holes were dug that day..

However, ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan regardless, as BLUE was dispatched as a QRF force to the old AZURE site, which was being decomissioned, but was now being attacked by unidentified assailants.

They arrived too late to save the contractors still on the site, but managed to engage the enemy SF, likely to be VIPER units. A number of BLUE operatives gave their lives when a high ranking VIPER going by call-sign JetBlack managed to kill them with nothing more than a sileced pistol and scavenged weaponry.

The enemy were scattered, with their VTOL transport being shot down into the sea by the rapid actions of Ghosthawk pilot Dinosaur. Sadly, no concrete evidence was found to as to the origins of the enemy, and BLUE was forced to torch the base and RTB.

OP HAYMAKER

All was not to go smoothly for BLUE hereon. A small FIA cell composed of ex-SF units had made a secret camp well behind NATO lines. After molesting their commander for wearing a NATO uniform bought on ebay, they launched a rapid raid on a relatively undefended airbase operated by NATO.

The defenders were overwhelmed with ease, and FIA acquired the location of the new AZURE. After fighting through enemy reinforcements and a surprisingly stiff gendarmerie response, they returned to fight another day.

Or should I say night? Because Operative Kilianthropolos made the decision to attack AZURE at night, relying on the sheer chutzpah of the move to carry them.

FIA sent them one of the few civilian chjoppers they owned, and plans were made to land at an LZ right to the east of AZURE. Unfortunately, the pilot must have been high on something, because the chopper hit the ground a little too hard and promptly blew up. The team scattered and hid, and even managed to kill a few first-responders who arrived in a pawnee.

A second civ chopper was acquired, but not for long, as it too crashed 10 meters away from the other one. RIP.

With both police and AZURE patrols searching the area, Kilian formulated a daring plan: They sent two guerillas of french descent, Aadrien and Antoine, to attack a NATO Supply Dump, in the hopes of distracting AZURE and depriving it of some of its defenders.

The plan worked, and AZURE was rapidly overwhelmed, with the Colonel found in the loo.

However, a FIA member named Nateanthos was likely overwhelmed with PTSD, and blew up the prisoner with an ill timed grenade.

The survivors made a run for it, being chased by all the remaining AZURE members. Cell Croissant died heroes' deaths, fighting an airdropped Marshall to the last.

A hasty plan was made to steal a downed NATO pawnee. However, it was flown right over Altis Airfield, where the local AA managed to get in a hit with a A2A missile. Kilianthropolos proved a superior pilot, managing to control it via auto-rotation while Orochikanthos fixed it mid flight in a move he had learned from playing Battlefield 5 on PC. Sadly, Aadrien and Nate made a jump for it, and hit the ground hard, suffering critical injuries. Aadrien managed to recover comms, and was picked up by the heli. However, Nate was still left on the ground and badly wounded to boot.

Luckily, an FIA sympathiser had seen the whole thing, and drove in with his sexy sedan to rescue Nate. He proceeded to head to a temporary FIA camp, where he told their command of Nate's survival. Unfortunately, the survivors were sceptical of his intents, and it took the word of their commander to stop them raping and shooting him again. They still did steal his car though, and proceeded to send it to Mars using an over-inflated tyre. This pissed him off, and he demanded to be given their heli in recompense. Predictably, he was shot dead.

The commander was outraged, but the arrival of NATO choppers silenced him, as everyone came to the conclusion that the good samaritan wasa traitor or a spy. They scrambled into the air, being chased across half the island before realising that their chopper had NATO IFF, which was the actual reason they had been tracked. DERP.

They ditched their chopper in a bay, and lived to fight another day.

Our 3rd campaign mission started off with a stealth infiltration, as BLUE attempted to use a SDV to land on the northern shore of the island while avoiding a FIA jet patrolling the AO. Unfortunately, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ AAF sub sprang a leak, and attempts to submerge lead to the unfortunate and untimely demise of Dino, who it turns out, wasn't the aquatic breed of small dinosaur..

After making it on to shore, the beach holiday was cut short by a small engagement with FIA forces guarding the approach to a small airfield.

This base was being used to run sorties over the island, including bombing runs on a UN outpost to the NW. BLUE decided to make a circuitous approach, so as to avoid the roving technicals guarding the area. After navigating to a nearby forest, BLUE successfully destroyed a jet with a direct rocket strike, such that the resulting blast destroyed the other vehicles parked in close proximity. Squad member Orochi, our token yellow boi, managed to shoot down the already airborne jet, thus allowing them to make a bounding retreat to the south whilst waiting for updates from command.

Command radioed in 5 minutes later, ordering BLUE to defuse a hostage crisis underway in a small church on a nearby hill. A high-ranking AAF officer had been captured by FIA, who had sent a negotiator to the nearby town to talk to the BLUE operatives appearing on scene.

To the surprise of BLUE, the negotiator was shot dead by an unknown assassin, leading to a short but brutal firefight where both angry AAF and FIA forces attacked BLUE in the mistaken belief that they had broken the ceasefire.

BLUE holed up in a small fort inside the town, and waited for Command to soothe ruffled feathers with AAF HQ. Unfortunately, the FIA were not willing to wait, and started executing hostages. A small BLUE fireteam lead by Dino managed to make it to the site, and discovered one surving AAF officer. They managed to bring him back to the fort, and had him radio in and explain the situation to AAF Command.

With hostilities with AAF ended, BLUE was informed that local police had acquired eye witnesses to the shooting, who told our boys that the shooter had been holed up in a building out of town.

Unfortunately, BLUE was insufficiently cautious while scoping the site, with the death of several members to a cheekily hidden APERS mine. Fortunately, they recovered suspicious Iranian documents along with a CSAT Cyrus abandoned there.

With suspicion on possible CSAT involvement, BLUE was tasked with deniable ops to find intel, operating without the knowledge of AAF 'allies'.

They raided a local radio installation with the aim of finding transcripts of the regional comms on the day of the attac, however the logs were encrypted, with the radio controller informing them that the encryption keys had been forwarded to the Iranian ambassador, and that Chinese SF had already been there to claim more documents. Here, Orochi's jaundiced complexion and general appearance came in handy, with him convincing the locals to hand over the last copy by pretending to be the Chinese who had already been due for a second visit.

With the area now hot after someone accidentally used explosives, the team hurried towards Kavala, before which they stopped and attacked the Iranian Ambassador's residence, obtaining copies of the encryption keys. Now being chased by both CSAT and local AAF, BLUE moved into the city, aiming to meet local informants holed up in the old Castle.

The city was on curfew, so BLUE managed to kill/subdue AAF patrols until they reached the castle. Unfortunately, the informants had witnessed BLUE's laissez-faire approach towards friendly fire, and lit them up in the belief that they were team-killers and double agents. With the last objective sadly blown, BLUE made a quick exfil, and lived to fight another day. 3/4 objectives successfully completed isn't bad right?

Fortunately, AAF HQ had finally agreed to let AZURE be shifted to the mainland, so no more nasty amphibious excursions for our boys in BLUE. Now if only they could find our only MIA, but he's probably starved to death XD
