I've been running Sandstorm servers for a few years now, but my INS roots started with me as a player, then later as an admin, for Sernix. Much love, Daimyo! Too much fun man! No other gameplay has been quite like Sernix, not even Sandstorm with all its mods and so on. Daimyo crafted that perfect balance between realism and fun. I'm forever in your debt.

I miss playing Sernix servers! getting destroyed by IEDs even when in cover was traumatizing to say the least lol

January of 2025 will be around the 10 year anniversary for Sernix. A few months away. So, what's the plan to celebrate?

Prior to sandstorm. I remember machine gunners spraying giving cover, snipers would pick the bad guys afar, medics crawling through hell to revive, rifleman clearing on point, rocketboys blowing up clumps after clumps of bots. IEDS 24/7 lol..!! Molotovs roasting them boys. Felt like we went through war, in a game, but we are veterens!

I enjoyed playing on this server back in 2018, my brother would always come into my room at 2 am upset that I am screaming "IED!" every couple of minutes. Good times.

This was the last fantastic group I played with, in the last heydays of Insurgency before Sandstorm came out. Sernix community, you guys rock. I miss a lot of you, between the molotov spamming, medic'ing everyone after IED's, confined spaces housing 20+ players in defense of areas designed for way less. Is it just me, or is the sandstorm server gone? Trying to join by IP says I need a password, and the server status link says it doesn't exist.

Been playing INS: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for a while, had the mood to play classic Insurgency (2014) and I'm surprised that a server which I thoroughly enjoyed back in high school is still up and running.

Hello there! Just checking in because the Sernix Insurgency server is stuck crashing on a map called Payback.

Hey admins, on the OG Insurgency server, the map Warehouse_coopv3b3 isn't available on the steam workshop anymore which makes the server unjoinable when its on that map. Any chance it could be removed? My group of friends still use your server. Thanks in advance!

A remembrance. Daimyo added juggernaut bots. To combat this change to sernix, I would get sniper loadout and with a M95 Barret as my primary. Run up to the jug bot and rapid fire it into his face.

Man this place has been quiet for a while now. Is anyone still active on the servers or did we all instead set up shop in Sandstorm?

Hey Admins! Just letting you know the map ShellShock_v1_1 is broken. is puts the players on two different teams, has source errors instead of player models, and each round ends as soon as the startup counter hits 0. It cycles 3 rounds and goes to map vote.

I imagine at first the availablity, due to that ranking system, will be locked. One reason they cannot deal with changes in any weapons ratings. The anti-cheat program would go haywire trying to figure it out. So hopefully sometime after full release they can release the full SDK to modify servers to which client servers WANT them to be. The only trade-off that I can see is that the current Ranking system would have to be shut off somehow placed in stasis while a client is playing one of these modded servers.

Yeah the matchmaking thing seems obscure, along with the mutators that unreal has. I got the impression after workshop maps, players will get to apply mutators to official matchmaking servers.... gotta rewatch the stream again someday. This whole xp system will make modding complicated for sure, esp with the hints that char models and gun models might be locked out of the sdk

Thanks Hodor for updates/research! Glad they talked about modding plans and I just hope custom servers are able to get player traffic. Not sure how custom game matchmaking will work and if server browser will be easy to find for newbies.

Also of note, the dev mentions lowering texture pool size actually lowers texture quality. Weird mechanism for sure, but if anything is accidently left as a cpu rendered texture/sprite, this would help reduce stutters.

Bots got updated today again, all black bot squads (isis bots?) are more frequent and bot are more lively / snap shooty. They seem to update bots server side without client patches.

Just a psa for sandstorm players, at current patch the game is still very cpu bound.

Be sure to set windows power profile to performance so your cpu does not dynamically downclock, but is always at max speed.

Whiskty they mentioned community run server support for the matchmaker, hopfully it leads to something :D

Just today they spoke about AI for coming patches, statistics definitely drove all their recent decisions. If you hover your mouse over the matchmaker options of coop and pvp. From the ratios, you can see all the flakey cod kids they tried to woo have refunded. It's just us loyal players left and they're considering growing our base! Things are looking up baby!

I can almost say the news of this delay has hit us in very different ways. 3 months is a lot of time to play this game (Sandstorm) with only 4-5 maps. Myself, I am Bummed Out. I had high hopes, but they have been dashed. Hopefully they can make the game more playable in these next 3 months, but as I already said, I would not be surprised if another delay comes in December.

For some reason this delay to December does not surprise me one bit. There are way too much oddities in the graphics and other in-game actions that seem unfinished. I would not be surprised that it may be delayed further into 2019. :-(

When some party members are still loading into a map and not yet in scoreboard, the party leader can exit to menu to start another matchmaking search to reroll the map choice without leaving anyone behind in lobby.

Whenever you find someone left behind in lobby when map has loaded, only the leader needs to exit to main menu and start another search. Everyone will be dragged to new map.

Likewise just join a friend's squad via steam friends and alt tab if you wanna que into friend's game. Have yet to test if can be done while already in solo pub game and be dragged into new map on leader search. It may also seem beneficial to create squad before solo pubbing if you expect friends to join and have their own filler game while they wait for yours to finish.... if the dragging also works here.
