WELCOME! to Garf18BL's/Dr. Unkfield's 4th BOOST RACE tournament, using Epona's rules.

***DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME WARNING*** tournament may be an hour off from previous months based on Steam time, be sure to check with me or a friend for correct time :)

Sorry to host a tournament so soon after Nightcat's tournament on the 11th (here), but I will be away for at least a month soon after the 18th and thought I'd like to host a tournament before then :D

The tournament will take place on Saturday, March 18th at 7 PM UK Time (GMT +1:00) (the same time as most previous tournaments - check the event post here to see the start time for your own local timezone - if enough people can agree on a different time that works best for all/most, feel free to suggest and we may change it! :D).
- Anyone is free to join (though host may refuse entry to potential entrants for past poor behavior/actions) - simply post a comment below indicating your desire to sign up, either definitely or as a maybe/replacer, and your name will be added to the list! :D

1. All 21 (including Outrun Bay) normal tracks will be played in random order [game mode will be BOOST RACE].
- Qualifying round will be 10 tracks.
- Finals/bracket round will be 10 tracks.
- A bonus track will be played if a tie results (or if people just want to do 1 more race for fun).

2. Qualifications for the Finals
- 2 Lobbies = Top 5.
- 3 Lobbies = Top 3. The 10th spot will be decided by points, or a tiebreaker will determine the last qualifier if needed.
- Tournaments generally last around 2 hours and 30 minutes on average. Please note that any more rounds would extend it by quite a bit.
***Please note that, in my experience, the tournament can be difficult and slow to start up, as many people (since we come from all over) live in different timezones and may not show up quite on time - I ask that all participants try their best to be patient and understanding as we begin to set up the tournament, and do your best to show up 15-30 minutes ahead of time to expedite the process. But once we get going, it should go quite smoothly.

3. The host of the lobby will start the next race as soon as everyone has had the opportunity to say "ready" or "not ready" in Steam group chat. If you do not speak in chat within 5 minutes of the previous race ending, the host is allowed to start the race without you having said you are ready; additionally, the host will assume you're not ready if your character is on random, but if you have already picked a character, the race will start within 5 minutes.
- These 5 minutes will also be used in case someone has disconnected to give them time to rejoin the lobby.

4. Hosts of the lobbies have the responsibility to take screenshots of the results after every race.
- This is so that if someone disconnects/has a network error/crashes/has to go, their points can be kept. BUT other participants can help too, as sometimes the host misses a screenshot.
- In the event that a person or persons crash during the course of the race, they will be awarded the points earned by their respective bot. HOWEVER, if 5 or more players experience a network error/crash (or if the lobby agrees by consensus), the race can be restarted (even if already completed - in this case, the points of the previous race will be disregarded, and only points from re-race will count).

5. Sign up deadline is TWO (2) hours before the tournament begins.
- If you sign up after that, you are NOT guaranteed a spot (but if someone who signed up doesn't show up, it is possible to join at that time).

6. Be ready to deal with S-class A.I
- Their scores do not count, but their driving/items will SURELY affect the outcome of the races! (and yes, they can be very, very annoying xD)

7. Steam chat will be used to communicate.
- If you're not in the Steam group chat for whatever reason (as stated previously in rule #3) the host will assume you're not ready if your character is on random, but if you have already picked a character, the race will start within 5 minutes.

8. If enough hosts and participants are willing to, there will be a lobby/lobbies besides the finals (brackets).
- This is so that everyone can be ranked in the tournament. Or else only the finalists will be. [thank you for the idea Epona and for posting it NoVa :)]

9. Roulette/"Bonus Chance" is allowed, but no weapons are allowed to be used, the one possible exception being that said weapon is used only to destroy an obstacle (e.g. the monkey ball or the statues on Temple Trouble) or the weapon is simply fired away into an abyss of some sort to get rid of it.
- Basically, if you get "Stunt Nitro", that's totally fine and grats on your luck xD but if you get "Ice x3" or some other weapon and shoot someone (even by accident), you will receive 0 points for that race at least, and may be disqualified, so be VERY CAREFUL if you receive a weapon from the "Bonus Chance".
*** This rule is up for debate, and if anyone has any feedback please share so that the rule can be altered/removed to most peoples' satisfaction :)

Added notes:
Understand going into this tournament that, many times, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things happen (lag bumps, other weird bugs, falling cakes, etc.) and that this is unfortunately just part of the game. If you express your frustration in a reasonable way, that is fine, but please - do your best to remain civil and sportsman-like, as it will help the tournament be more fun for all participating :D
- Though I truly do not wish to, if a player is continually disruptive or confrontational in private chat, in-game, or in group chat, actions may have to be taken against said player (e.g. warnings potentially leading to a disqualification). So PLEASE do your best to behave well so that we all can have fun :)
