PORTAL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

RELEASE DATE: OCT 10, 2007

In Portal, players control a test participant in the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. Gameplay revolves around the "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device" (ASHPD), a handheld device that can create portals on flat planes, allowing instant travel and a visual and physical connection between any two different locations in 3D space. Portals are restricted to planar surfaces, but if two linked portals are on different planes, bizarre twists in geometry and gravity can occur, such as the player walking through a portal on the wall and "falling" up out of the floor several feet behind where he started. Only two portals may be open at a time, one orange and one blue in colour. If a new portal is created, it replaces the previous portal of the same color. The device also acts as a less powerful version of Half-Life 2's gravity gun, which can grab and hold objects, though it is not able to 'punt' objects as the gravity gun can.

Hey, guys. I just met this amazing person named JC who runs a streaming group on twitch.tv.

If you're unfamiliar with twitch, it's similar to YouTube except all videos are streamed live.

It would be an injustice to JC if I said all he did was streamed his gameplay of Bioware's The Old Republic. That's an excuse, I suppose, of gathering together. His stream is about chilling with a group of awesome people, basically. He has an immense library of music that he streams. He streams videos that we can all watch together. And the community talks about anything and everything.

On top of that, JC does drawings and gives out copies of The Old Republic. This week alone 23 copies have been given out (perhaps more. The list may not have been updated since last night) including a copy of the collector's edition given out just last night. Overall, I believe the money he's spent on these copies is well into the thousands.

He's also planning to give out at least one Razer Naga.

JC runs an amazing community-- I mean, that is rather an understatement. It's a rare sort of person that brings such awesome people together.

So, if you could give JC a little love and head over to his twitch channel and kick it with us that'd be awesome. Stick around for the drawings that he does multiple times a day and have a pretty damn good chance of winning a copy of The Old Republic.

Hug a Gamer Day (_H.G.D_)

I met this guy called Master G a couple weeks ago, and he randomly gifted me a game on Christmas Eve. I thanked him then asked why he did so and he told me about his group called Hug a Gamer Day (HGD). Basically, HGD is a community of people (mainly directed for people who play games and are managing careers, children/marriages, etc. Though, all are welcome). They've got a website, forums and internet radio and you can, well- get free games! Still a pretty small community, so show some support and drop by.
