Best games since the Cretaceous period

Well I've played games since the Cretaceous period so I think I know a thing or two about good games.
This list will obviously reflect my tastes, but I have a wide tongue so expect FPS, RTS, SOS and acronyms so new even I don't know what they are! HYTHO!
Seriously though, I like games which do something new, games which push boundaries, or simply just the best in genre. Follow this list for my hot picks.

I definetely can second TF2, XCOM, Half-Life 2. Of Civ5 I was a bit disappointed, since it was so unfinished and slow in the beginning. The only really good thing of it was the hex-view of the game. I hope they will implement it in Beyond Earth as well :hmm:
