A Biography for William and Mary's, Professor Roy Pearson

"A faculty member since 1971, Roy retired in June 2005, becoming Chancellor Professor Emeritus. Roy's specialty is forecasting, which he taught in the MBA program for three decades. From 1984 to 1998 as Director of the College's Bureau of Business Research he regularly published his quarterly two-year-ahead forecasts, and also ten-year forecasts, for Virginia and six of its metropolitan areas - and he continues to prepare national, state, and sub-state forecasts for businesses and government agencies. Roy will continue to teach forecasting in Mason School seminars and courses, and at the Forecasting Summits. He also is an expert in using the internet for business and economic information, a skill he continually updates for giving seminars and corporate workshops on efficient use of the internet for business intelligence.

Roy has served on the Governor's Advisory Board of Economists at the pleasure of six Virginia governors, Robb, Baliles, Wilder, Allen, Warner, and Kaine. He is an active member and has been on the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), is Vice-President of the National Business and Economics Society (NBES), and serves on the editorial boards of IIF's Foresight: The International Journal of Applied Forecasting and the NBES-sponsored Journal of Applied Business and Economics. His other professional memberships include the National Association for Business Economics, the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, and the World Future Society. He received a B.S. in Commerce and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia.
