We should get a list going here. I don't know if you guys care to share, but here's mine:

oblisk is a bum so I will have to elaborate on something:
You are allowed to create your own name for your character when you first sign onto BNet in-game. However, they also assign you a random numerical code with it. I'm assuming it's so that duplicate character names are allowed. You can see your code when clicking on your "Friend" icon in the bottom-right after signing in and clicking on "Add Friend".
