Infanterie-Regiment No. 3 "Erzherzog Carl" Fremdenlegion

This is the IR No. 3's "Foreign Legion". The IR No.3 originally only consisted of German speaking people but then we founded an "international" department, called "Fremdenlegion" (= Foreign Legion). Officially, it's the regiment's 2. Compagnie (2nd Company). It's currently lead by Hauptmann (= Captain) Nekros.
The IR No. 3 tries to be as historical accurate as possible; we use historical ranks, commands etc. If you join, be prepared for (sometimes) complicated commands and (maybe) learning German ranks.

The elector and archbishop of Trier Karl Joseph von Lothringen established 19th of August, 1715 two Kur-Trierian regiments which served as Old-Lorraine's and Young-Lorraine's in Imperial services from 1716. The first owners became the Lorraine hereditary prince Leopold Clemens Karl (old Lorraine) and his younger brother Franz Stephan of Lorraine (young Lorraine). After the sudden death of the hereditary prince, Franz became colonel-proprietor of the regiment of his brother. His old regiment received Leopold von Lignéville which was called now infantry regiment Lignéville. As usual, the regiment had different names regarding to the respective regimental owners. In 1769 the firm family number 3 was added to the name of the owner: Infantry Regiment Lorraine No. 3

First the soldiers of the regiment were recruited from the whole Holy Roman Empire. This was valid till 1806 officially. „Forbidden nationalities“ were French, Italian, Swiss, Polish, Hungarian and Croatian. From 1766 a differentiated "Imperial Advertisement" was valid. Soldiers were hired over from now on above all in the imperial circle from the Lower Rhine-Westphalian and imperial towns of the imperial circle from Lower Saxony. The locations changed till 1771. Then state accommodations were valid in the Austrian hereditary landing as constant garrisons, with firm advertising districts for the German regiments. The regiment was recruited from 1781 in Lower Austria, from 1830 in the Hradisch region in Moravia.
