Hedy Lamarr Appreciation Group

Hedy Lamarr, born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Austria, Vienna, who lived between
November 9th, 1914 and January 19th, 2000, was an American film actress and inventor. She was
honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960, starring in various films, being a
part of “The Golden Age of Hollywood”. Although her invention was not used by the US Navy
until the 1960s, the principles of her discoveries and her invention led to what today we call
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. She was the first woman to ever receive the Invention Convention's
BULBIE Gnass Spirit of Achievement Award, known as the "Oscars of Inventing". After the 1990s
Hedy received various awards for her contributions on the scientifical world.
Hedy Lamarr has lived an incredible life, being underestimated at every step she took
because of her beauty, hiding a brilliant mind behind a pretty face. I truly believe she has
managed to change the world around us, and has never received enough credit for it. With no proper education or training, she revolutionised the world, while having a successful career in acting as well, which is almost unbelievable.
