The Minigun is the Grandaddy of Video game weapons and has been represented in Movies and is a beast IRL.

The earliest version of the modern day minigun was the hand wound Chain Gun developed 160 years ago. The minigun did not reach its full potential until the Vietnam War.

My first love affair with the Minigun began in 1987 when at 10 years old I watched WWF legend Jesse Ventura aka Blain rip apart South America with his minigun in Predator.

My favourite Movie minigun moments are:

In Video Games the earliest version of the minigun appeared in Commodore 64s Commando in 1984 (one of my first games on cassette). The closest relative of TF2s minigun was first seen in 1992 in Wolfenstein 3D, then Doom 1993, Quake 1996 and Team Fortress Classic 1999.

So next time you wield your beautiful minigun know the legacy that it has left behind in popular culture.

Lastly - yes Heavy Middies are a real thing! And dont let anyone tell you otherwise. If you perfectly track an airborne jumping player with most of their health and suspend them in the air with perfect tracking that is a heavy middy my friends.
