Homeworld Space Engineers Mod And Server Project

I have been doing some research on the use of Larger scaled ships in Space Engineers. Importing them as ships seemed to be the best coarse of action. SEToolbox makes this a snap. In the past few attempts I did not know anything about the scaling factor used in Homeworld. I have successfully imported the scout model to exact scale and have been experimenting with some of the larger ships.

Thanks to the assistance of the group members Tzaar and STARFIGHTER. And a few helpful youtube videos posted about ship sizes Youtube Video I have been able to get the correct scaling factor to use in SE.

We determined that the block sizes are as follows:
Small Ship Block: 0.5m x 0.5m x 0.5m
Large Ship Block: 2.5m x 2.5m x 2.5m

The Hiigaran Mothership: Height 3041 m

So when Importing the model I am able to use theSEToolbox's Max Length Scaling to scale the largest dimension of the ship to an exact size in blocks.

Since we know the LargeShip Blocks are 2.5m square we can take the overal ship length in meters (3041m) amd devide it by the BlockSize (2.5m) This gives us the height in blocks (1216.4 blocks). So we lost a meter in length and are now sitting at 3040m tall.

Once imported I tested it and it looks great. However I donot think this scaling is going to be right for a game like SE. We have a few options, and I am doing further research into them. Screenshots can be found on my Steam Public Content.

Option 1: Use a smaller scaling for all ships. This is undesirable The scout ship is really small as it is imported to exact scale.I do not wish to reduce this any further.

Option 2: Import the Larger ships such as the motehrship as a actual model with original texture. I believe this will reduce the lag an object of this size can have on the server and client. This would be the preferable option. I would use this metohd sparingly to allow for the sandbox elemets to remain intact at least in some aspects of this mod.

Option 3: ?????? Any Ideas?

The first stage of the project is going to be to set up a scenario that we can use as a base for this mod. This means I want to get motherships partially functional before moving on. After that I will be moving on to the Ship Chassies System. I will be posting more information regarding the Ship Chassies Syste, soon.

I do have other systems In concept and am looking for developers to work on individual systems for the mod so if you got what it takes might as well give it a shot. You will be granted a certain amout of creativity as long as you stick to the cocept outlines and discuss modifications with the group. There are a few problems we will be facing that need a group of people to help find workarounds or solutions for these issues.(Preferably Solutions)

Overall there is some progress I am excited to get some more people involved in the Development of Homeworld SE.
