The 4 Rs of Researching vehicles:
Requirement, Role, Relevant, Realistic

Requirement: For those of you not in an official squad, the requirement is that you meat the "Novice Standard" which is in the standards section. For those of you with a squad, it is required that you obtain your squad vehicle(s) which is advised you do at the upmost priority.

Role: In a squad, there are the 3 major class roles that a squad member could be assigned to in terms of combat (Standard, Heavy & Specialist). It is advised that along with your primary vehicle that you obtain any vehicles suited to the playstyle of your role. If you are in a Spitfire squad as a heavy, it is worthwhile you obtain the wellington bomber to suit your role.

Relevant: This is a bit trickier. The relevant vehicles are not to do with either your role or your required vehicles but match or compete with the current battle rating (Often used for Tank battles) to get the best performance. If you are playing at BR4.0 and you are part of a Pz IV squad then along with the Pz IV F2, G or J, it may be worth obtaining a Stug or Pz III, a Wirbelwind, a Bf109F-4 and a Ju-87 D-5 for example.

Realistic: "Can it be done?" is the important question here. Can you research a Relevent, Role suited or Required vehicle? Maybe you are one short on the research line but require 3 more vehicles to obtain it. Best thing here is to research vehicles you might like to try or move you up another tree in the next tier too, don't bother dordling about with planes you think you will never use.

The 4 Rs are to avoid obscure diversity in research. The worst thing in researching that can happen is you research a vehicle that is rubbish, unloved and unnecessary and wasting time getting it. Best think before you act on what you are researching and plan ahead.
