"Sup mate, can you help me please?" Phishing Scam

It's been a long time since I've reached out - I hope you're all safe and doing well.

I just wanted to reach out about a phishing scam that has been going about where a friend will ping you with "Sup mate, can you help me please?".

Said scam works as follow:

• You get the "Sup mate, can you help me please?" message.
  
• After replying, the phishing bot will elaborate with a request, needing perhaps a vote or something like that, and will submit a link to you.
  
• If you click the link, you will be brought to a website asking you to sign into Steam in order to perform the "helpful" task.
  
• Assuming you sign into the phishing website, your account will eventually (could be a few days) repeat this phishing scam to various friends on your friends list, and will possibly block them; thus removing the message history on your end. You may not even be aware of the DMs, as they do so rather quickly before performing the block (so they can't warn you about your suspicious behavior).

What can you do if you encounter this? Don't click any links. If you have, especially if you have signed into their phishing website, change your Steam password and the password of the email associated with the Steam account. Monitor your credit card to make sure that it hasn't made any unauthorized purchases. Check your blocked users list to see if you can recover any friends the bot has removed.
