Recently, I have been contacted by BlackSpawn: co-owner of the group TWI – NOMICROTRANSACTIONS !! with Bigguns. Their main focus of the group is to convince Tripwire Interactive (TWI) to “reconsider/reform the implementation of Zedconomy” in the game Killing Floor 2. Basically, TWI launched "Killing Floor 2" as a $30 USD Early Access title with the billing of "Early Access Done Right" on 4/2015. 7 - 8 months into Early Access, after >500K sales and with effectively no prior warning, they implemented a Key Crate RNG microeconomy involving differing rarity/quality Steam market items with plans for crafting, an associated curated mod workshop for paid items, and a $10USD Deluxe Upgrade ON TOP OF an in-game store. Crates and some of the lesser cosmetic items can be obtained as marketable drops, but otherwise the ONLY way to acquire these items is through Key Crate RNG or the Steam market.

TWI effectively withheld these monetization plans, allegedly in order not to hurt their Early Access sales, which, jointly with Steam's tenuous refund policy; assured that interested individuals would not be able to return their game. Furthermore, even though this full priced game already as a F2P styled microeconomy and other components mentioned above, they have already mentioned their plan to sell other items such as: "weapons with new gameplay", "characters and voicepacks.
